All CSH orchestra students are strongly encouraged to audition for Jeffco Honor Orchestra. It's time for Chatfield to dominate the performing arts in Jeffco! Access the Jeffco Honor Orchestra website for audition materials using your Jeffco email.

Mission and eligibility

Jeffco Public Schools Honor Music Ensembles Mission and Eligibility Statement (Revised 5/1/2022)

1. The mission of the Jeffco Honor Music Ensembles is to provide growth opportunities for exceptional students enrolled in Jefferson County School District (District) school music programs.
2. To be eligible for participation in Jeffco Honor Ensemble events, a student must be enrolled in, meet all eligibility requirements for, and actively participate in a District school’s music ensemble course.
3. Student selection will be based on performance criteria as well as balanced instrumentation or voicing.
4. If a student withdraws from their school music program, then they are no longer eligible for participation in Jeffco Honor Ensemble events.
5. Schools are responsible for the supervision of participating students at all Jeffco Honor events, including rehearsals and concerts. Teachers of participating students are expected to help with event-related duties, attend rehearsals for professional learning opportunities and supervision and will be provided a substitute teacher on the day of the event. 

Audition guidelines

Important guidelines for honor orchestra audition materials:

Most students should prepare for the Honor Orchestra audition using the Honor Orchestra excerpts and scales. Students auditioning for Colorado All State Orchestra (open to 10th- to 12th-grade students only) will still need to prepare this audition for Jeffco Honor Orchestra.

I think you will find that the Honor Orchestra audition materials are attainable, especially given that the audition is not until November. Remember, if you need help, ASK!
