Credit Recovery

Second Chance Credit Recovery at Chatfield

Second Chance is a credit recovery program that provides students who fail a class the opportunity to meet the standards required for a passing grade (D) in one course in an accelerated manner. This is a student led credit recovery effort wherein students are expected to register themselves, be proactive, communicative, and advocate for themselves directly with their Second Chance instructor and/or the administrator, Ms. O'Dougherty.

  • All communication including email confirmation and notification of passing is received via student Jeffco Gmail accounts.

  • In order to pass, students must complete all required work by the final day of Second Chance and will receive an email from their instructor.

  • Please note, the passing grade change will be evident on students' transcripts, not Infinite Campus.

    In order to be eligible...

  • 10 or fewer total absences/tardies (excused or unexcused) during the semester in the course

If students are missing ample class time, they are also missing essential instruction and core skills.

*Student advocacy is the center of this program and goes a long way when communicating with Second Chance teachers/administration.

Option Schools, Credit Recovery

Jeffco has a variety of options for students who need credit to graduate. For example, seniors can talk to their counselor about Graduate on Time (GOT) through McLain High School.
